2001 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose for the evaporator tube on 2001 Buick Regal?
A: One should recover refrigerant before starting the evaporator tube replacement process. Proceed with the evaporator tube replacement by taking out the left front fender upper diagonal brace first then the air cleaner assembly and cross vehicle brace and vacuum Brake Booster. The next step requires removal of the accumulator clip followed by disconnecting the evaporator tube nut from the condenser tube and finally unconnecting the evaporator tube. Use precautions to remove the evaporator tube from its bolt before disconnecting its inlet tube from the evaporator while discarding the o-ring. Before installing o-ring seals on the evaporator tube you must apply mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to them. You should first tighten the evaporator tube to evaporator block fitting bolt to 16 n.m (12 lb ft) then apply torque of 27 n.m (20 lb ft) to the evaporator tube nut. Afterwards, connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser tube and the evaporator tube to the evaporator. Reinstall the accumulator clip followed by the vacuum Brake Booster and the cross vehicle brace and air cleaner assembly and left front fender upper diagonal brace. The evacuation of the a/c system will be followed by recharging steps alongside fitting leak inspections through the use of a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
