2000 Buick Regal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly on 2000 Buick Regal?
A: The replacement of the compressor hose assembly starts with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable followed by removing the air cleaner and duct assembly. The procedure requires removal of cross vehicle brace if it exists and recovering refrigerant from the system. The compressor hose nut at the condenser requires removal so the hose gets positioned aside while the same process is repeated to remove the compressor hose nut at the accumulator before setting the hose aside. Raise the vehicle after supporting it securely and remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor by first disassembling the lower air deflector and then the nut before discarding all used o-rings and sealing washers. Before final installation apply mineral base oil of 525 viscosity to new o-ring seals after which install the compressor hose assembly components which include new o-ring seals and sealing washers. Install the compressor hose assembly to the rear opening of the compressor before tightening its nut to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Assemble the lower air deflector onto the vehicle and lower the body before installing the compressor hose to the accumulator by attaching the compressor hose nut with 16 n.m (12 lb ft) torque force. The compressor hose must be attached to the condenser before implementing a torque of 16 n.m (12 lb ft) on the compressor hose nut. Leak proofing begins after system evacuation, recharge, and checking for any system leaks. Reinstall the air cleaner and duct assembly together with the cross vehicle brace (when installed) and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
