2001 Buick Regal Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Repair the power steering pump on 2001 Buick Regal?
A: Placing a drain pan under the vehicle is the first step before removing the accessory Drive Belt. Start by lifting then supporting your vehicle before taking out the tire along with wheel assembly. You must disconnect the power steering pressure hose together with the power steering return hose from the Power Steering Pump. The next step involves breaking the attachments of power steering mounting bolts before removing the Power Steering Pump. The Power Steering Pump reservoir must get detached from the pump and the Power Steering Pump pulley needs to be transferred. The Power Steering Reservoir must be connected to the pump before placing the pump at the engine position while tightening all mounting bolts to 34 nm (25 ft. Lbs.). The power steering pressure hose and return hose should be attached to the pump while accessory Drive Belt installation follows. The technician should add power steering fluid to complete filling the system then bleed air from it before inspecting for fluid leaks after removing the pan underneath.
