You should remove all fasteners from the cup holder assembly before you take it out from the center console. Place the new cup holder inside the center console while attaching it through its 4 fasteners. First reinstall the cup holder's trim plate before reinserting the console door striker fasteners and complete the adjustment of the door striker. A final assessment of the cup holder and console door functioning should be done before completing the center console trim plate installation.
