  A: Steering Knuckle servicing and repair for rpo fe1 and fe3 should start by lifting the vehicle and removing the tire and wheel. Next, unbolt the Wheel Bearing and hub, followed by lower Ball Joint cotter pin and retaining nut, outer tie rod retaining nut. To remove the outer tie rod from the Steering Knuckle, use the steering linkage and tie rod puller (J24319-B), and then to disconnect the Ball Joint from the Steering Knuckle, use the Ball Joint separator (J43828). Go ahead and take out the strut to Steering Knuckle attaching nuts and bolts, then we remove the Steering Knuckle. For installation, mount the Steering Knuckle to the lower Ball Joint and strut and make sure to install the strut retaining bolts and nuts and make them tighten to 147 nm (108 ft lbs). Next, install the lower Ball Joint retaining nut and recommends torque to 10 nm (88 inch lbs.) + an additional 150 degrees without back of nut, all while ensuring that the cotter pin is aligned. Install a new cotter pin to the external tie rod to the Steering Knuckle, and tighten it down to 30nm (22 ftlbs.), plus 180 degrees. Finally, the Wheel Bearing, and hub assembly are reinstalled, the tire and wheel, as well as the check of the wheel alignment.
