- Q: How to replace the front side door window regulator on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?A: The first step to install the front side door Window Regulator starts with unfastening the door trim panel. Secondly remove both the door module and water deflector from the unit. To access the window clamp attachment bolts you should remove the inside handle assembly then pry the front of the assembly back before pulling it outwards and sliding it to the rear position. The handle rod requires separation from the clip guide while following all steps according to the express window down caution. The power window module should be reconnected while the window reaches the maximum upward position before applying tape according to glass and sheet metal handling caution. The installation begins by manually detaching the fasteners of the window clamp attachment. Next, lower the regulator clamps to their full down position then disconnect the electrical connector from the Window Regulator motor before taking out the Window Regulator from the inner door panel. When installing the Window Regulator you must place it through the access hole in the inner door panel then use fasteners (2, 3) and tighten them up to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Sign up the electrical connector to the Window Regulator motor while making sure the rubber insulators fit properly onto the clamps of the motor. Remove tape from the Window Regulator clamps by pushing them to reach their uppermost position which locks into the window. Position the window by minimizing its height to 2 inches with a complete pillar positioning and 2-3 mm (5/64 in to 1/8 in) forward window adjustment before fastening the clamp pieces to 10.5 n.m (93 lb in). Start by detaching the Power Window Switch and module after which you must position the rear of inside handle assembly through the opening of inner panel and apply pressure on the front edge of assembly to achieve full engagement followed by attaching the handle rod onto the clip guide. The water deflector and door module and door trim panel should be installed as the final steps.
