How to replace the rear trunk latch without an interior release handle on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

To switch out the Trunk Latch you must start by opening the trunk door then undoing the lid trim panel. Pull off the electrical connector from the door latch and take away the latch release cable from the door lock by sliding off the release tab with a flat tool. Take out the Trunk Latch by removing its fasteners from both the lid and the compartment. Secure the new Trunk Latch onto the lid and attach it with fasteners which you must tighten to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) force. Install the latch release cable back to the lock cylinder of the trunk before attaching the electrical connector to the Trunk Latch. Reassemble the trunk trim and wedge it back into its original position afterwards.
