How to replace the rear side door handle on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

Before starting the replacement of the rear side door outside handle the window needs to be fully up. The first step involves removing the door trim panel before taking out the door module then the water deflector. The next operation involves removing the latch assembly. The fasteners for both the rear outside door handle and the front outside door handle will pass through their respective spaces - latch hole and rear access hole. You can remove the door handle assembly by lifting up on the two lower retaining tabs and pulling the handle with attached latch rod. Disengage the rod which is currently attached to the door handle. When installing the product users must position the rod to the door handle followed by insertion of the rod through the cut-out before applying simultaneous pressure up and in to allow retaining tabs to snap into place. Secure the outside door handle fasteners through a 7 N.m tightening procedure which equals 62 lb in of force. Begin by reinstalling the water deflector followed by the latch assembly after which install the door module and finish the process with the door trim panel.
