How to replace the front door handle on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?

Starting to replace the front side door outside handle requires drawing up the window fully first. Start by removing the door trim panel followed by extracting the door module together with the water deflector. Use the rear access hole of the inner panel to disconnect the door latch retainer clip from outside Door Handle rod and the outside lock rod from the door latch on driver doors and to separate the lock cylinder harness electrical connector from the door harness on driver doors only. Use the access holes to remove the outside Door Handle fasteners and separate the door assembly by pushing up the retaining tabs and lifting to remove it with handle and latch rod and cylinder. To install the handle slide the rods through the cutout before rotating it into position while pushing from inside and upwards until the retaining tabs secure to the door. Secure the outside Door Handle's fasteners at 7 n.m while tightening them to 62 lb in. Connect the driver door lock harness electrical connector with the door harness before you hook the outside door lock rod with the door latch (driver door only). Connect the outside Door Handle rod to the door latch by fitting it into the retainer clip followed by clip closure. The installation process should include replacement of the water deflector followed by the door module and door trim panel.
