How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?

Start by opening the rear compartment lid then taking off the trim panel. Unplug the electrical part from the rear compartment lid latch and pull out the latch release cable from the cylinder of the lock. Use a tool to detach the bolts connecting the rear compartment lid latch to the compartment lid before taking the latch out. Set the new rear compartment lid latch onto the rear compartment lid first and secure it with the retainer bolts applying 25 n.m (18 lb ft) torque. Join the latch release cable end to the rear compartment lock cylinder then plug in the electrical cable connector to the rear compartment latch. Place the rear compartment lid trim back in position and shut the rear compartment.
