The process of replacing the rear door lock begins with trimming the panel and removing the water deflector. The first step includes detaching both the outside handle rod from the lock then removing the inside handle rods from the handle followed by removing the clip which connects the inside handle rods to the door. Open the door and unscrew the three lock screws (1, 2, 3) holding the lock to the door before removing the piece with attached inside handle rods. Close the power source before removing the inside handle rods from the lock. Install the door lock by placing its rods through the door inner panel access hole then connecting the electrical connectors. Apply LOCTITE(R) Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent before fastener installation then secure door lock screws by following the specified tightening pattern (1, 2, 3) which starts with the top screw followed by the bottom and ending with the middle screw and fasten each screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Insert a new outside handle rod-to-lock clip onto the door lock lever followed by attaching the outside door handle rod inside the clip to eliminate any free play and fastening the clip cover over the threaded outside door handle rod. After fitting the clip on the inside handle rods you should proceed to connect these rods to the handle. To complete the installation position the water deflector and the trim panel in its correct position.

You can begin the replacement when you open the rear compartment and remove its release actuator. Remove push-in retainers from the latch with the Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover (J 38778). Add grease pencil marks on the rear compartment lid to ensure the part fits correctly. Take off both nuts from the rear compartment stud bolts and pull out the rear compartment latch from its position on the lid. Put the new rear compartment latch on top of the initial marks and fit its push-in retainers into place. Secure the rear compartment lock release actuator nuts with a torque of 10 Nm (89 lb in) onto its studs. Afterwards replace the release actuator back into its original position.

Open the rear compartment space and use a grease marker to mark the latch position on the rear compartment lid. Take off cable connections from the rear compartment lid latch and the actuator from the lock cylinder to start work. Take off the nuts holding the rear compartment lid latch in place to the lid and pull out the latch. Setup the new rear compartment lid latch at its accurate places using the alignment marks on the lid before fixing the nuts at 10 Nm (89 lb in). Restore power flow through the latch and lock cylinder actuator cable to the lock cylinder before putting away the back compartment.

The front side Door Lock Actuator replacement process starts with front Door Lock removal after which you must undo the screws which keep the front Door Lock attached to the front Door Lock Actuator. The front door actuator needs detaching from the front Door Lock. The front door actuator installation requires you to match it with the front Door Lock while following the fastener notice instructions. Secure the screws which attach the front Door Lock to the front door actuator until they register 2 n.m torque or 18 lb in measurement. The installation of the front Door Lock completes the procedure.

To install the new rear compartment lid latch you need to open the compartment and trace the latch position on the top. Pull off the nuts which support the rear compartment lid latch to its base and free it from the lid. Remove the electrical connector from the Trunk Latch then detach the fasteners keeping the latch mounted to the compartment. Separate the Trunk Latch and release cable parts from their positions. Put the Trunk Latch onto the lid and fasten it with screws as you tighten them to 25 n.m. Fit back the electrical connector to the latch and then attach the lock release system through the trunk. Place the trunk trim panel back in position then shut the trunk.

The next step requires removal of the 2 TORX(R) fasteners which connect the actuator to the lock assembly followed by actuator removal. Moving the plastic teeth found in the lock switch against the lock assembly teeth can be achieved through advancement of the teeth direction toward the actuator arm. Preinstall the new actuator on the assembly while inspecting that the rubber bumper of the actuating arm sits properly on the actuating arm . Apply the actuating arm along with bumper into the locking lever before positioning lock switch teeth correctly against the gear tooth fork bolt and fasteners. Install both TORX(R) fasteners with 8 N.m torque force (71 lbs in torques). To finish a secure operation use your hand to pull the fork bolt inwards until it performs a secure movement from partial closure to full closure without experiencing any obstructions. Connect all electrical wires while testing the operation of both the lock system actuator and the switch unit. The final step involves installing the lock assembly while verifying that the lock carrier achieves adequate mounting together with retention.

Apply a grease pencil marker to show where the rear compartment lid latch should be placed. By taking out the lock cable assembly you gain access to the top of the lock release box where you can unclip the cable door to see the remote release cable. Start by pulling the remote release cable out from the lock release box when present and unscrewing all latch cable assembly bolts to take out the latch assembly. Line up the latch assembly marks and bolt it into place before tightening the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in). Attach the remote release cable to the lock release when you have it and fix the cable door at the top of the box. Mount the lock cable assembly last.

Begin replacing the rear compartment lid latch by opening the compartment and making marks on the lid where the latch is located. Open the rear compartment and insert a flat tool to open the plastic cover on the lock cylinder to pull out the lock cable. Install the retaining bolts (W715202-S300) onto the door lock actuator before tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). The manual door lock must connect to the door retainer clips and the inside door handle control rod must attach to the lock assembly and the inside door lock rod must link with the handle retainer clip. Under the last step: install the water deflector and the door trim panel while checking the total functionality of all connecting elements.

Begin replacement of the sliding door rear lock by removing the lower trim panel which is situated on the sliding side door. The replacement process begins by removing the bolts holding the lock rods to the sliding side door rear lock and then pulling out the rods. Remove the sliding side door rear lock both from the door and from the vehicle after completing the previous steps. When installing the device set the sliding side door rear lock in the vehicle before placing it into the door opening. The bolts need to be installed for securing the lock to the sliding side door while the tightness should reach 10 N.m or 89 lb in. Open the rear compartment lid and remove the rear compartment lid trim panel.

Attach the actuator to the liftgate and loosely assemble the bolts to the latch actuator.

Secure the actuator with screws, tightening them to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Install the door lock actuator to the door, connect the outside door handle control rod, and the cylinder lock rod.

Remove the sliding door inner trim panel and the sliding door water deflector.

First, attach the actuator rod to the new actuator, then install the actuator onto the power sliding door.

Take out the front door outside handle lock rod bracket and the screws securing the front door lock actuator.

Install the door lock actuator to the door.

Reinstall the lock to the door, followed by the water deflector and the door trim panel.

First, remove the latch assembly bolts and then take out the latch assembly from the liftgate.
