- Q: How to replace the front side door window regulator on 2000 Cadillac DeVille?A: The replacement process of front side door Window Regulator commences with door trim panel removal and subsequent removal of door module and water deflector. Next proceed to remove the inside handle assembly through the steps of gentle backward prying followed by outward pull and downward sliding off. Run the tool rod out from the clip guide while taking note of the express window down caution. The power window module and switch should be reconnected after raising the window to its highest position and securing the screen with tape. Conduct this operation while actively following the glass and sheet metal handling caution. The first step in removing a Window Regulator includes detached the electrical connector from the Window Regulator motor while lowering regulator clamps to their full down position and loosening window clamp attachment fasteners. After detaching the fasteners (2, 3) between the inner door panel and Window Regulator you can remove the Window Regulator out of the panel. Insert the Window Regulator through the access hole of the inner door panel then fasten it using fasteners (2, 3) while tightening them to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Affix the Window Regulator motor electrical connector with its rubber insulators correctly installed on the Window Regulator clamps. The work begins with raising the Window Regulator clamps to their top end to activate the window before tape removal. Position the window correctly by lowering it by two inches then moving it backwards against the center pillar before advancing it by 2 mm to 3 mm (5/64 in to 1/8 in) while tightening the window clamp fasteners to 10.5 n.m (93 lb in). You must disconnect the power window components before placing the inside handle assembly rear section into the mounting hole in the panel. After that slide the front section of the assembly into the slot until it locks in place then attach the handle rod to the clip guide . The completion of the installation requires reinstalling the water deflector together with the door module and door trim panel.
