How to replace the rear compartment trunk lock cylinder on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

You need to open the rear compartment lid then detach the compartment lid trim pieces to access the lock cylinder. Start by detaching the back up lamp before disconnecting the latch release cable from the lid lock cylinder. Pull off the small metal clip which holds the lid lock cylinder at its position on the rear compartment lid to access the cylinder. Reposition the lid lock cylinder inside the rear compartment lid after inserting it and add the retainer clip. Reattach the latch release cable to the lid lock cylinder and return the back up lamp and rear compartment lid trim while putting the lid back in its position.
