2001 Cadillac Eldorado Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: Start by removing the engine sight shield's two mounting nuts and then remove the shield from the engine compartment. Detach the coil module connectors at the camshaft covers and separate the PCV Valve from the camshaft cover and the pcv fresh air tube from the camshaft cover as well as the fuel regulator vacuum tube and the vacuum tubes from the air solenoid. Start by disconnecting the quick-connect fittings between Fuel Rail and fuel inlet and fuel return lines before removing the rear lift bracket retaining nut for the Fuel Rail bracket. Extract the engine coolant heater wire from its mounting position by removing the two pushnuts before setting the wire to the side. First move the generator coolant pipe/surge tank pipe from the Fuel Rail studs aside and disconnect the eight electrical connectors from the eight fuel injectors. The four bolts that connect the Fuel Rail to the Intake Manifold need removal so you can lift the Fuel Rail assembly along with its injectors from the population. Begin by loosening the plenum duct clamp at the Intake Manifold rear and proceed to remove its ten Cylinder Head bolts. To lift the Intake Manifold start from the front with an upward motion. The Intake Manifold requires cleaning alongside duct plenum inspection. Put a light coat of grease on the plenum duct rubber edge. Clean all debris from both the Cylinder Head and Intake Manifold before applying new gaskets to the Intake Manifold. Connect the PCV Valve hose tightly to its fitting at the front of the Intake Manifold while proper positioning starts with entering the plenum duct at the rear then slowly dropping the front section onto the cylinder heads. Follow a circular pattern when tightening the ten bolts that attach the Intake Manifold to cylinder heads from the center to reach 10 nm torque. Tighten the plenum duct clamp to 2.25 nm while ensuring the plenum duct remains fully attached to the Intake Manifold rear. No jerking motions should be applied to the injector installation to maintain the o-ring seal integrity. Press the Fuel Rail assembly along with its injectors into the Intake Manifold position correctly before securing the four Fuel Rail retaining bolts to 4 nm torque. Install generator coolant pipe/surge tank pipe onto Fuel Rail studs while also hooking up engine coolant heater wire onto Fuel Rail studs if your vehicle has an engine coolant heater system. Position the two pushnuts first and then use a 4 nm torque setting to tighten the Fuel Rail bracket retaining nut onto the rear lift bracket. Attach quick connect fittings to the Fuel Rail before connecting vacuum tubes which lead to the air solenoid and the fuel regulator vacuum tube along with the pcv fresh air tube to the camshaft cover as well as connecting the PCV Valve to the camshaft cover and the coil module connectors to their respective camshaft cover locations. The fuel leak check procedure requires turning the ignition switch to on for two seconds followed by off for ten seconds before returning to on. Install the Intake Manifold sight shield to the engine before tightening the two sight shield nuts to 3 nm torque.
