2001 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC system on 2001 Cadillac Seville?
A: The procedure for accumulator replacement in HVAC systems begins with recovering refrigerant followed by two more steps. The accumulator removal process starts with removing the suction hose retainer then the suction hose and finally the evaporator hose assembly. First disconnect the accumulator retainer then take out the accumulator itself. Weld first install your new accumulator then secure the accumulator retainer in place. Tighten the 20 N.m (15 lb ft) retaining nut on the evaporator hose assembly before installation to the accumulator. After installing the suction hose to the accumulator position the retaining nut and tighten it to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). The refrigerant system requires recharging followed by fittings leak testing using an Electronic Halogen Leak Detector (Model: J 39400).
