  A: Start the replacement of the secondary air injection (AIR) pump by elevating the vehicle. The first step requires removing retaining screws from the left front wheel well/splash shield front side while you lower the splash shield to expose the air pump assembly. Lower the air outlet hose pinch clamp while loosening it before disconnecting the air inlet hose from the air pump and separating the electrical connector of the air pump. Beyond removing the upper air pump to cradle bolt you can pull up the air pump to withdraw it from the cradle bracket. You can install the lower air pump nuts/bolts to the cradle bracket by pushing down while following fastener notice instructions mentioned in the service precautions. Secure the upper air pump at the cradle with its bolt which you should tighten along with the lower bolt to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Connect the air pump electrical connector next while installing the outlet hose and clamp to the air pump and finally fastening the inlet hose to the pump. Finally, lower the vehicle.
