How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2001 Chevrolet Astro?

To replace the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor, lift the vehicle first. In the case of the underbody shield package: take off the steering linkage shield mounting bolts and the steering linkage shield. Remove the CKP sensor mount bolt and take out the CKP sensor, disconnect the CKP sensor harness connector. When installing the new CKP sensor, make sure it is installed all the way before tightening the mounting bolt, so you do not have erratic operation and false DTCs. Set a new CKP sensor O-ring and lubricate its surface with the clean engine oil. Set in the CKP sensor while ensuring that its mounting surface is clean and free from the burr. Fasten the mounting bolt of CKP sensor with 8 N.m (71 lb in). Rejoin the CKP sensor harness connector, connect the steering linkage shield then tighten the mounting bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft). Finally, lower the vehicle and execute the CKP System Variation Learn Procedure.
