How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2001 Chevrolet Camaro?

The first step to replace the ABS Control Module (ABSCM) requires setting the ignition switch to OFF position for equipment protection. First disconnect the ABSCM harness connector along with the pump motor connector from the ABSCM base by pulling the lock tab and avoid damaging the seal or solenoid valves when performing removal. Gently disconnect the ABSCM from the BPMV while noting its wave spring configuration for later reinstall. Six screws need removal to detach the ABSCM which are discarded afterward. The vehicle requires two wave springs discard when it is equipped with ABS/TCS but only one discard needed for ABS-only systems. Installation requires denatured alcohol cleaning of the BPMV gasket surface followed by application of new wave springs and screws provided with the new ABSCM. The vehicle should determine the number of wave springs along the specified locations because dual wave springs are needed with ABS/TCS and single wave springs are required with ABS only. Fitting the ABSCM to BPMV requires sequentially tightening all six screws starting with the top four to 2.9 Nm (26 inch lbs.) in an X pattern while the bottom two screws should get torqued to 2.9 Nm (26 inch lbs.).
