2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Brake Booster Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: Begin by taking out the air cleaner assembly, and afterwards remove the master cylinder mounting nuts and take the master cylinder off the booster. Pull the master cylinder and ebcm/bpmv toward the engine just enough to avoid the studs on the vacuum booster, without messing up the brake pipes. After that, take off the vacuum hose from the vacuum check valve and loosen the booster retaining nuts . Take off the left lower instrument panel and remove the booster pushrod from the Brake Pedal, lightly tilting the vacuum booster to keep from pressing on the pushrod. After taking out the booster, put in the new one and connect the booster pushrod to the Brake Pedal, making sure to tilt the booster slightly for the right position. Clip the Brake Booster onto the Brake Pedal retaining nuts and use your tool to tighten them to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Afterwards, put the left lower instrument panel back on, join the booster vacuum hose to the check valve, and then mount the master cylinder and the ebcm/bpmv to the booster . In the final step, fasten the master cylinder retaining nuts and use 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) of torque.
