• Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier?

  A: First remove the air cleaner assembly before unfastening master cylinder mounting nuts and dismounting the master cylinder from the booster. Play with the master cylinder alongside ebcm/bpmv until they pass the booster studs properly but avoid braking or deforming brake pipes. Drain the vacuum hose from both the vacuum check valve and the booster retaining nuts. Remove the left lower instrument panel but leave the booster pushrod attached to the Brake Pedal. Tilt the vacuum booster a little to ensure the pushrod remains free of excessive strain. Separate the booster from its position on the vehicle. You should first set the booster onto the vehicle before connecting the booster pushrod to the Brake Pedal by slightly tilting the booster. Install the Brake Booster while securing its retaining nuts to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) torque. Reinstall the left lower instrument panel before connecting the booster vacuum hose to the vacuum check valve and attaching the master cylinder and the ebcm/bpmv to the booster. Secure the master cylinder with the retaining nuts , tightening them to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.)finish the installation with the air cleaner assembly.
