2001 Chevrolet Impala Fan Shroud Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fan shroud on 2001 Chevrolet Impala?
A: A replacement process for the Fan Shroud begins with disconnecting the negative Battery Cable along with draining part of the cooling system. Start by lifting the vehicle and proceed to detach the transmission oil cooler lines from their bottom retainers beneath the cooling Fan Shroud. Then remove the push pin retainers at the lower section. Lower the vehicle to remove the right and left engine mount struts and then take out the left front fender upper diagonal brace. Begin by removing the Radiator inlet hose both from the Radiator then from the air cleaner assembly. You must first detach the cooling fan heat shields if present together with disengaging electrical connections from the cooling Fan Shroud system. Detach the cooling Fan Shroud bolts before removing it along with the cooling Fan Shroud clip which is attached to the Radiator top. Install the cooling Fan Shroud by placing it in its proper position then secure the clip on top of the Radiator under proper pressure for complete engagement. Secure the cooling Fan Shroud bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.) while connecting the electrical connectors. Install heating shields for fans before adding the air filter unit and Radiator inlet tube onto the Radiator. Reinstall the left front fender upper diagonal brace before installing both engine mount struts and their corresponding right side. After raising the vehicle install the lower Fan Shroud push pin retainers alongside the transmission oil cooler lines which should be attached to the retainers positioned at the bottom of the cooling Fan Shroud. After filling the cooling system and negative battery reconnection steps should be followed by inspection of proper operation.
