2001 Chevrolet Malibu A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How Must the A/C Accumulator Be Installed on the A/C Evaporator Tube to Eliminate the Need for Flushing the A/C System on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: The A/C Accumulator (AC P/N-1760) needs installation on the a/c Evaporator tube (liquid line) between condenser and Evaporator to eliminate obligatory a/c system flushes. Start by recovering the a/c fluid before raising the supported vehicle. You need to remove the right front fender liner to cap or tape both condenser and Evaporator lines before possible contamination occurs. Disconnect the Evaporator line bolt at the condenser fitting after possibly wheel rotation to the right before discarding the orifice tube inside the ac p/n-1760. Cut the liquid line using the marked positions which are set 38 mm (1.5 in) apart from each other and 50 mm (2 in) below the first line hanger while ensuring all metal burrs remain outside of the line. At the condenser fitting install the Evaporator line while tightening the hose bolt to 25 n.m (18 lb ft). Take off all A/C Accumulator components consisting of nuts, ferrules and o-rings. Do not install o-rings yet at this time. Use the small end side of ferrules to push them alongside the liquid line halves until installing the line into the A/C Accumulator where it should rest at the bottom. Securely tighten the nuts before removing the accumulator from the liquid line under proper placement. Clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil should be used to lubricate the o-rings and they should then be installed on the liquid line before reinserting it into the A/C Accumulator until it reaches the bottom. Use a torque wrench to fasten the nuts by applying 15 newton-meters while keeping the line stationary. Charge and evacuate the refrigerant system then perform fittings leak tests using j 39400-a before putting back the right front fender liner and lowering the vehicle.
