• Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

  A: When replacing Throttle Body assembly, first shut off the ignition, drain engine coolant sufficient enough to prevent leak of the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses. Remove the breather tube off the air intake tube, then remove the air intake tube. Next, disconnect the iac valve electric connector, tp sensor electric wave, and accelerator controls cable. If necessary, pull out the cruise control cable from the throttle lever and accelerator bracket, remove the accelerator control cable bracket, and unsnap the wire harness clip from the bracket. Remove the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses and the heater pipe nut at the Throttle Body. Lift the nuts and bolts that hold the Throttle Body in place on the Intake Manifold and get rid of the Throttle Body assembly. Clean the gasket surfaces on the Intake Manifold and Throttle Body assembly without using any solvent, because it will damage them. If needed, install the new gasket and then, proceed to install the Throttle Body assembly. Tighten the Throttle Body retaining nuts and bolts to the torque of 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Restore Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses, heater pipe nut in the Throttle Body, iac valve electrical connector, as well as, tp sensor electrical connector. Later, install the accelerator control cable bracket and wire harness clip, and plug in the cruise control cable if required, as well as the accelerator controls cable. Install the air intake tube and join the air intake tube, the iat sensor electrical connect; also join the breather into the air tube. Lastly, check the filling of the coolant and verify to check that the throttle does not bind between full closed and wide open throttle and checking total effect of throttle open and close positions by the use of accelerator pedal along with checking of poor clothes fitting under the accelerator pedal.
