• Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2002 Chevrolet Malibu?

  A: To remove Throttle Body assembly, first turn off the ignition and drain part of the engine coolant to avoid escape from Throttle Body coolant bypass lines. Separate the breather tube from the air intake tube, pull off the air intake tube, remove the electrical connector of the idle air control (IAC), the throttle position (TP) sensor, and the accelerator control cable. If there is still available space, disconnect cruise control cable link from throttle lever and accelerator bracket, then remove accelerator control cable bracket loosening the snap of wire harness clip to the bracket. Remove the Throttle Body assembly by disconnecting the Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses, disconnecting and removing the heater pipe nut at the Throttle Body, removing the nuts and bolts that secure the Throttle Body to the Intake Manifold. Clean the gasket surfaces on the Intake Manifold and Throttle Body assembly without using any solvent, and if needed install a new one and before installing the Throttle Body assembly. Install the Throttle Body retaining nuts and bolts and tighten them to 28 n.m (21 lb ft) and join Throttle Body coolant bypass hoses and heater pipe nut Throttle Body. Reconnect the iac valve electrical connectors, tp sensor electrical connector, and secure the accelerator control cable bracket and wire harness clip. Follow the cruise control attachment cable to the throttle lever, then to the accelerator bracket, but if applicable, then header accelerator control cable to the air intake tube. Connection of air intake tube, iat sensor electric connector, and breather to the air tube, and coolant refilling. Check for free movement of the throttle without interplay between full closed and wide open throttle and check throttle to open and close positions completely by operating accelerator pedal also with bad carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
