How to service and repair the rear door check on 2001 Chevrolet Prizm?

The service process for the rear door check starts with removing the rear side door trim. You need to expose the rear door check link by pulling back the water deflector before detaching it from the door. First disconnect the check link to door jamb bolt from the rear panel while removing the two securing bolts which will allow the check link to pass through the inner door access port. The check link installation process begins with inserting it through the inner door panel access hole followed by bolt tightening to 5.5 N.m (49 lb in). Install the rear door check link so it links to door jamb bolt and adjust the bolt tightness until it reaches 5.5 N.m (49 lb in). Return the water deflector to its correct position before putting the rear side door trim panel back.
