2001 Chevrolet Tracker Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair a water pump on 2001 Chevrolet Tracker?
A: Regular Water Pump service starts with disconnecting the Battery Cable and draining cooled engine oil. You need to detach the Crankshaft Pulley and Timing Belt assembly with the Timing Belt tensioner and plate. Also take off the oil level indicator guide tube and seals around the Water Pump area. Remove the Water Pump and gasket by unscrewing the mounting bolts and nuts and then cleanse their attaching surface. Place the new gasket on the engine block first and secure the Water Pump gently with mounting screws until the 2 torque readings are reached (115 inch lbs. And 13 Nm). Put new rubber seals into the Water Pump before inserting the oil level indicator guide tube then Timing Belt tensioner and Timing Belt at last Crankshaft Pulley. Reconnect the Battery Cable and refill the engine cooling system while making sure the battery retainer achieves a torque of 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). After driving the vehicle test each component of the cooling system to find any leakage.
