  • Q: What Tools Are Required to Service and Repair Front Coil Springs and Shock Absorber on 2001 Chevrolet Venture?
    A: To service and repair the suspension strut the following tool are required: holding fixture (J 3289-20), strut compressor (J-34013-B), damper rod clamp (J 34013-20), alignment rod (J 34013-197),strut rod nut socket (J 42991),str start by removing the strut from the car. Attach the strut to the holding fixture (J 34013-B), strut compressor lower adapter (J 34013-971), and strut compressor upper adapter-j-34013-972. Rotate the strut compressor (J 34013-B) forcing screw until the spring compresses slightly, then use t 45 torx (R) and the strut rod nut socket (J 42991) to remove the strut shaft nut. Utilize alignment rod (J 34013-197) to bring the strut shaft out of the strut mount upper while ensuring not to damage the coating on the suspension coil spring. Lighten the pressurizing force of the screw as you take out the strut shaft, doing so until the strut and spring can come out. For assembly, install the strut to the holding fixture (J 34013-B) and then attach the strut compressor (J 34013-20) to the strut shaft. Place the spring under the strut and correctly locate it against the strut compressor and use the upper locking pin to secure it in place. Orient the strut mount correctly before mounting the strut to the holding fixture ( J 34013-B), strut compressor lower adapter (J 34013-971), and strut compressor upper adapter (J-34013-972). Pass the alignment rod (J 34013-197) through the upper strut mount to the end of the shaft then rotate the strut compressor (J 34013-B) forcing screw clockwise until the shaft threads are above the top of the strut. Install the strut shaft washer and nut and then remove the strut compressor (J 34013-20) from the strut shaft. Torque strut shaft nut to 85 nm (63 lb ft) using the t 45 torx (R) and strut rod nut socket (J 42991). Finally, remove the strut from the holding fixture (J 3289-20) and re-install it into the vehicle.
