How to replace a shock absorber on 2001 GMC Safari?

Raising the vehicle stands as the first step before shock absorber replacement starts. Start by eliminating the shock absorber upper mounting nut then detach the lower mounting nut, bolt and the cable bracket for the parking brake (right hand). Start by removing the lower mounting bolt together with its associated nut along with the park brake cable bracket on the right side before taking out the shock absorber from the vehicle. To effectively install the shock absorber align it properly and proceed by securing the lower mounting bolt and its corresponding nut before attaching the right-hand parking brake bracket then continuing with the left-hand lower mounting bolt and nut. The installation requires tightening shock absorber upper and lower mounting nuts to 107 Nm (79 ft. lbs.). To finish the process lower the vehicle while properly disposing of the shock absorber.
