  • Q: How to replace the oil pan on 2002 Buick Century?
    A: To replace the Oil Pan, one has to first disconnect the negative Battery Cable and remove the engine mount struts. Lift the vehicle using the prepared engine support fixture (J 28467-360). Unfasten the A/C Compressor mounting bolts, relocate and fasten the A/C Compressor, remove the 3-way catalytic converter pipe from the right Exhaust Manifold, and drain the engine oil. Disconnect the oil level sensor electrical connector, remove the Starter motor, and remove the transaxle brace from the Oil Pan. Remove the transaxle mount loose lower nuts and the engine mount loose lower nuts before lowering the vehicle. Raising the engine again, use engine support fixture (J 28467-360), and take off the engine mount bracket with the engine mount from the Oil Pan. Pull out the right lower Ball Joint and right outer Tie Rod from the Steering Knuckle; remove the right side frame bolts and loosen the left side frame bolts. With the help of the torque wrench adapter (J 39505), remove right Oil Pan side bolts, then remove left Oil Pan side bolts as well as Oil Pan retaining bolts prior to removing the oilpan and the gasket. Apply the engine support fixture (J 28467-360) to lower the engine and then raise and support the vehicle. Mount the transaxle mount lower nuts, engine mount lower nuts, and transaxle brace at the Oil Pan and then the Starter motor and oil level sensor wiring harness assembly. Reconnect the pipe of the 3-way catalytic converter with the right exhuast manifold and the A/C Compressor and bring down the vehicle. Finally, uninstall the engine support fixture (J 28467-360), engine support adapter leg (J 36462-A), and engine support adapter (J 28467-90A) off the engine, apply the engine mount struts to the engine, fill the engine with a new oil, and ground the cable from the battery.
