2002 Buick LeSabre Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: First break the connection between the master cylinder and Brake Fluid Level Sensor before taking off all brake pipes from the master cylinder. Put rubber caps or plugs on top of the exposed brake pipe tips to avoid fluid leakage. After plugging the open brake tube ports you need to disconnect the 2 master cylinder bolts and extract the master cylinder. When you plan to reuse the reservoir take it out from the master cylinder. Install the master cylinder reservoir if removed and fit it back to the Brake Master Cylinder. Next, bench bleed the unit before reattaching it to the vacuum Brake Booster while following the fastener notice guidelines. Install the master cylinder with its two mounting nuts until they reach 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs. Torque) and connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder fittings using 33 nm (24 ft. Lbs.) torque. Put the electrical connector back into the Brake Fluid Level Sensor then complete the brake system bleeding process.
