2002 Buick LeSabre Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: Before starting to replace the vacuum Brake Booster you should disconnect the fuel injector sight shield then the accelerator control cable plus its bracket. Unplug the Cruise Control Module but maintain it within reach and free the electrical connector from the EGR Valve before taking out engine harness clips. Take off the brake fluid level sensor wire connector from its location. Before you set down the master cylinder take out its mounting nuts then put the master cylinder safely to a side. You need to remove the vacuum Brake Booster check valve plus the left insulator panel, left knee bolster bracket and steering column support mounting nuts. Place the lowered steering column on mechanical wire support and disconnect both the stop lamp/abs/shift lock switch and tcc/cruise control release switch from the Brake Pedal assembly. Remove the Brake Pedal Pushrod retainer clip together with foam spacer and Pushrod before taking out the Brake Booster attaching nuts from the pedal assembly and the Brake Booster itself along with its mounting gasket if you need to replace it. Reinstall the vacuum Brake Booster into its vehicle placement by first putting on a new vacuum Brake Booster mounting gasket if necessary. Fix the Pushrod and foam spacer to the Brake Pedal clevis after inserting them into its pin. Secure the booster attaching nuts to the booster studs by tightening them to 23 nm. Put back the connections between tcc/cruise control, stop lamp plus abs/shift lock to Brake Pedal assembly before placing the master cylinder on top of the booster. Put back the steering column, left knee bolster bracket, left insulator panel, and vacuum booster check valve. Paste the brake fluid level sensor cable connector to the Cruise Control Module before fitting the accelerator control cable bracket and cable. Secure the EGR Valve electrical connector before putting back engine harness clips and fuel injector sight shield.
