2002 Buick LeSabre Brake Line Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: To replace the front brake hose, initially, lift and secure the car, but tire and the wheel assembly after that. Ensure that the brake hose and brake pipe fittings are clean to remove dirt and foreign matter. Mount a rubber cap or plug on the brake pipe exposed fitting to avoid leakage, spillage, and brake fluids contamination. Strip the brake hose back to the firewall and unbolt the connection assembly. Turn off the flow of brake fluid and then remove the brake hose retainer using a flat-bladed tool, remove the brake hose from the brake-hose bracket. As with removing the master cylinder, remove the brake hose to caliper bolt from the brake caliper, and remove the brake hose from the caliper, discarding the two copper brake hose gaskets that will likely stick to the caliper or hose end. Again, cap the brake pipe fitting that is exposed to avoid fluid loss. Directly insert a rubber plug into the brake hose to caliper bolt hole of the caliper and take off the plug before installing the new copper brake hose gaskets. Mount the brake hose with the new gaskets as well as the brake hose bolt and install brake hose to caliper bolt to the caliper with 44 nm (32 ft. Lbs.) while ensuring no twist or kink of the hose. After that, connect the brake hose with the brake hose bracket and lock the brake hose retainer. Make sure to take off the rubber cap from the brake pipe fitting end and attach to the brake hose. Tighten the brake pipe fitting on the brake hose in a 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) torque. Install hose bracket and bolt to the strut assembly, torque bracket bolt to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Finally, bleed the hydraulic brake system to replace the tire and wheel assembly and to lower the vehicle.
