2002 Buick LeSabre Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 1 on 2002 Buick LeSabre?
A: To replace the Knock Sensor (KS) 1, turn off the ignition and be on the guard of the hot engine coolant as the latter is to cause severe burns due to staying in the engine water jacket even after draining the cooling system. Pour the cooling system out, and lift the vehicle. Unhook the electrical connector from the knock sensor and unscrew the knock sensor from the engine block . For installation, make sure not to apply thread sealant to the sensor threads as the factory coating will allow for the detection of detonation applications. Mount the knock sensor in the engine block and tighten it to 19 N.m (14 lb ft). Attach the electrical connector to the knock sensor, lower the vehicle, and fill in the cooling system.
