2002 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2002 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Before beginning replacement of the Fuel Rail assembly start by reducing pressure from the fuel system and cleaning both the Fuel Rail components and their connecting points. Separate all fuel feed along with return pipes from their connection points to Fuel Rail tubes followed by disconnecting the vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Regulator. First remove ignition coil wires before using the lock release tool on Fuel Injector connectors to pull and depress the lock tab for disconnecting the connectors from the fuel injectors. Raise the fuel injectors using a Fuel Injector remover (J 43013) tool after removing the Fuel Rail hold-down bolts. The Fuel Rail should be taken out with uniform force that acts on both its sides. When installing the fuel injectors put the brown o-ring below the black o-ring into their correct positions. First install the new o-rings to every serviced component before lubricating them with motor oil and handing the Fuel Rail assembly into position on the Intake Manifold. The technicians should install Fuel Rail hold-down bolts before torquing them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). After connecting the Fuel Injector electrical connectors you should push down the lock release lever while it locks and proceed to connect the fuel feed along with the return pipes to the Fuel Rail tubes. After reconnecting the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressure Regulator the mechanic will install the ignition coil wires before tightening the fuel fill cap while reconnecting the negative Battery Cable. A final leak inspection should be conducted by following the specified ignition cycle then reinstalling the fuel injection sight shield.
