2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when servicing the fuel rail assembly to prevent contaminants from entering the fuel passages on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: During Fuel Rail assembly service it is important to take protective measures against contamination of fuel pathways through fitting caps and plug hole installation. As a first step drain the fuel system pressure by relieving it from its pressure. The first step comprises opening the fuel injection sight shield before cleaning both the Fuel Rail assembly and its connecting components. The first step consists of detaching fuel feed along with return pipes from Fuel Rail tubes. Obtain the vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Regulator while removing ignition coil wires from their retainer clips located on top of the supercharger. Start with attaining the purge valve before removing the rear generator mounting bracket followed by the bypass valve actuator. Pull up the lock release mechanism on the Fuel Injector harness connector until the tab drops down and use this opening to lift the harness connector away from the Fuel Injector before repeating this process for all injectors. Detach the clips which connect the electrical harness to the Fuel Rail front while separating the Fuel Rail by applying equal torque on both sides. During installation the process starts by installing new o-rings on all serviced components followed by application of light motor oil to Fuel Injector o-rings before carefully placing the Fuel Rail assembly onto the Intake Manifold. Hand placement should be used to seat the fuel injectors. Mount the Fuel Rail hold-down nuts before securing them to 10 n.m (7 lb ft). The bypass valve actuator should receive installation together with the rear generator mounting bracket that now includes the evap canister purge valve. The electrical harness clips of the fuel injectors should be installed toward the front of the Fuel Rail while simulating down the lock release lever until complete locking is achieved. The ignition coil wires should be attached to retainer clips on top of the supercharger while attaching the vacuum line to the Fuel Pressure Regulator and joining the fuel feed and return pipes to Fuel Rail tubes. To proceed with installation connect the negative cable and tighten the fuel fill cap then check for leaks by testing the ignition for 2/10/2 seconds before installing the sight shield of the fuel injection.
