2002 Buick Rendezvous Battery Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the negative battery cable on 2002 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The first step for battery negative cable replacement involves taking the battery ground (negative) cable off the battery and the cable bolt off of the inner fender. Begin by supporting the vehicle when raised and uninstall the lower radiator baffle and battery cable conduit from conduit retainers until you reach the battery cable. The process begins with removing the battery ground (negative) cable nut and cable from the transaxle stud then lowering the vehicle to remove the battery ground (negative) cable from its position on the vehicle. The first step for installation involves attaching the battery ground (negative) cable to the vehicle before another vehicle lift. Tighten the battery ground (negative) cable nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) at the transaxle stud. Connect the battery cable before reinstalling the battery cable conduit into the conduit retainers along with the lower radiator baffle. Lower the vehicle and fasten the battery ground (negative) cable and bolt to the inner fender while tightening the bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in) before connecting the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery.
