• Q: How to Replace a Brake Light Switch in the Park Brake Warning Lamp System on 2002 Cadillac DeVille?

  A: Start replacing the Park Brake Warning Lamp Switch by taking off the left closeout and insulator plus left knee bolster and left front carpet retainer. Move the park brake pedal assembly aside after you remove nuts 1 and 2 from its mounting studs. Disconnect the electrical wire from the park brake switch before you remove its mounting bolt and switch unit. Put the new switch on the park brake lever assembly while keeping the pin seated in its locator opening. Connect the mounting bolt then turn it to 1.9 Nm (17 inch lbs.). Install the park brake pedal assembly back onto its mounting studs and bolt it down with nuts 1 and 2 while torquing them to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Return the electrical connection to the brake lamp switch before reinstalling the bolster panel items on the left side.
