Replacement of the Northstar rear compartment lid emblem/nameplate requires the following tools: After you collect the tools: Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07502). Heat Gun (J 25070) and 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07502). Lay down tape first to keep the emblem-nameplate both safe and in correct position while working. Heat the emblem/nameplate through circular motions with Heat Gun (J 25070) during a 30-second period when keeping the gun at 152 mm (6 in) distance from the surface. Use a small plastic flat-bladed tool to delicately remove the emblem/nameplate so you won't hurt the paint. Body panels should use the 3M(TM) Scotch Brite molding adhesive remover disk (3M(TM) P/N 07502) while plastic panels require either Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol with water. Mark the rear compartment lid with a tape 35 mm (1.38 in) to the left of the vertical edge and 71 mm (2.80 in) to the horizontal edge and 84 mm (3.31 in) to the right of this edge. Before placement of the emblem/nameplate heat the installation surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F) using the Heat Gun (J 25070) while keeping the emblem/nameplate temperatures between 29-32°C (85-90°F). Place the emblem/nameplate at the marked position by removing protective liner and carefully pressing it against the surface. Apply equal force to create uniform bonding before checking proper adhesion while hand rolling loose edge endings until you remove the tape from your surface.
