  A: The first step for servicing the Throttle Body includes disconnecting the maf sensor's electrical connector but handling the maf sensor screen with caution because damage to this screen can cause restricted airflow resulting in driveability problems. The procedure begins with loosening intake air duct clamps then separate the mass air flow (MAF) sensor together with the air cleaner intake duct. Examine the Throttle Body bore and inspect the throttle valve plate for deposits before opening the valve for full surface visibility. Do not use solvents containing methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) because they damage fuel system components. Clean the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate with gm top engine cleaner (P/N 1052626 Canada P/N 993026), ac-delco carburetor tune-up conditioner (P/N X66-P) or an equivalent product through use of a clean shop towel. To prevent incorrect mil activation or driveability issues simply check that the air cleaner outlet aligns with the maf sensor inlet duct during reinstallation. Reinstall the maf sensor and air cleaner intake duct assembly while tightening the clamps to 3 n.m (27 lb in) torque then connect the maf sensor electrical connector.
