• Q: How to install the A/C Accumulator to the A/C condenser tube on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?

  A: A technician should position the A/C Accumulator (AC P/N 15-1697) at a 60 mm (2.36 in) distance from the high side temperature sensor to install it in the a/c condenser tube between components. Place a mark 50.8 mm (1.99 inches) beyond the first condenser tube marker measure. Metal burrs need to be completely avoided from entering the tube cutting area while burrs are being removed from it. The marked area of the condenser tube requires a tubing cutter for removal and you should address any burrs that appear. Install the nuts and ferrules to each cut condenser tube end while placing the ferrule small end in the direction of the nut. Insert the accumulator to the condenser tube where the flow arrow faces the Evaporator and tighten all nuts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Before assembly on the Evaporator tube insert the accumulator nuts into refrigerant oil of viscosity 525 and then install the o-rings with lubricated surfaces. Put the accumulator nuts through the same installation process that ends with tightening to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). The last step includes system recharge followed by a fitting leak inspection using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A).
