2002 Cadillac Eldorado Exhaust Heat Shield Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the front exhaust heat shield on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: The replacement process for front heat shields on the exhaust pipe starts with exhaust system removal. Begin by unfastening the floor panel 4 bolts which hold the exhaust pipe front heat shield and exhaust pipe heat shield simultaneously before proceeding to remove the 2 bolts that join the exhaust pipe front heat shield with the catalytic converter heat shield . Slide the exhaust pipe front heat shield toward the rear and pull it beneath the catalytic converter heat shield . Raise the shield up from the vehicle. The installation process for the exhaust pipe front heat shield starts with positioning it against the floor panel by directing it forward under the catalytic converter heat shield until the holes match up with the threaded floor panel holes. Use your fingers to first tighten both the floor panel bolts for the exhaust pipe front heat shield and the catalytic converter heat shield and then install the 4 bolts that secure the exhaust pipe front heat shield along with the exhaust pipe heat shield to the floor panel before torquing them to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.). The exhaust system can be reinstalled after tightening each of the 2 heat shield bolts for the catalytic converter with 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.) torque.
