Service of the EGR Valve starts with disconnecting the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) electrical connector then removing the EGR valve retaining nuts/bolts. Thoroughly inspect all passages in the crossover water pump housing before performing any necessary cleaning procedures. Start the first stage by removing and cleaning the mounting area where the EGR valve will install. The recently cleaned or new EGR valve installation requires a fresh gasket which should be put in place while adhering to the instructions provided under Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Reinstall the EGR valve retaining nuts/bolts while fastening them to 24 N.m (18 lb ft). Reconnect the EGR valve electrical connector as the last step.
