Turn OFF the ignition and disconnect the electrical connector from the EGR valve.

Place a new gasket on the EGR inlet pipe, then install the EGR valve and secure it with the two nuts, tightening them to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

Tighten them to 30 N.m (22 lb ft) as per the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Remove the gasket from the EGR valve adaptor and clean the EGR valve adaptor of any dirt and debris.

Remove the gasket from the EGR valve inlet pipe and clean the inlet pipe of any dirt and debris.

Reconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the gasket from the EGR valve adapter and clean the EGR valve adapter to eliminate any dirt and debris.

Reinstall the heat shield and its nuts, tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Inspect the EGR passages in the crossover water pump housing for deposits and clean them as needed.

Take out the EGR valve retaining nuts/bolts and remove the EGR valve.

Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) electrical connector.

Reconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.

Install the EGR valve retaining nuts/bolts, tightening them to 24 Nm (18 lb ft).

Inspect the EGR passages in the crossover water pump housing for deposits and clean them as needed.

Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) electrical connector.

Install the retaining nuts/bolts, tightening them to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

Remove the two EGR valve retaining nuts and take out the EGR valve.

Turn OFF the ignition and disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.

Install the EGR valve nuts, tightening them to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

Tighten them to 30 N.m (22 lb ft) as per the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Remove the EGR pipe bolt and carefully pull the pipe assembly back.

Tighten them initially to 10 N.m (89 lb in.) each, followed by a final tightening to 25 N.m (18 lb ft) each.

Attach the EGR pipe to the EGR valve and tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

Disconnect the electrical connector from the EGR valve.

Soaking the EGR valve in a liquid cleaner or solvent can cause damage, as it is an electrical component.

Reconnect the EGR valve harness connector and the negative battery cable.

Reconnect the EGR valve harness connector, reinstall the air cleaner assembly, and finally reconnect the negative battery cable.

Take out the flange gasket and clean the gasket surface.

Remove the air cleaner assembly and move the air cleaner outlet duct aside.
