Service of the EGR valve begins with the removal of EGR electrical connector then the removal of nuts/bolts securing the EGR valve. The inspection and cleaning of crossover water pump housing passages for EGR deposits should be done as required. The mounting surface where you will install the EGR valve requires cleaning before the valve removal process. Put in place the cleaned or new EGR valve alongside a new gasket according to the Fastener Notice in Service and Precautions instructions. Place the EGR valve retaining nuts along with bolts onto their mounting points before tightening them to 24 N.m (18 lb ft). Connect the EGR valve electrical connector to complete the process.
