How to service the EGR valve on Cadillac Seville?

Service on the EGR Valve requires the removal of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) electrical connector followed by the heat shield nuts before taking out the heat shield. The service technician must examine and clean the egr passages in the crossover water pump housing after taking out the retaining nuts and bolts of the EGR Valve. When replacing the EGR Valve you should clean its mounting bracket. A new gasket must be applied before installing the EGR Valve according to fastener notice instructions in service precautions. Tighten both EGR Valve retaining nuts/bolts to 24 n.m (18 lb ft) while reattaching the heat shield and securing its nuts with 9 n.m (80 lb in). Connect the EGR Valve electrical connector as the last step of the installation procedure.
