How to service the EGR valve on Cadillac DeVille?

The egr service requires removal of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) electrical connector before taking out the heat shield nuts with the heat shield and then removing the EGR Valve retaining parts. The next step involves removing both retaining nuts and bolts from the EGR Valve before you can take it out. Routine checks for deposits should be performed on the crossover water pump housing egr passages before you decide to clean them. Proceed with cleaning the surface where the EGR Valve will be positioned. Place the new gasket before attaching the EGR Valve and tighten the retaining nuts/bolts to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Fasten the heat shield using nuts that should be tightened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). The completion process requires connecting the electrical cord of the EGR Valve.
