2002 Cadillac Eldorado Harmonic Balancer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2002 Cadillac Eldorado?
A: Start with Drive Belt disposal then elevate and sustain the car before continuing with the Crankshaft balancer replacement. Begin the Crankshaft balancer replacement by first removing the right front wheel combined with the front fascia extension from the wheelhouse then remove the engine Oil Pan-transaxle case brace and torque converter cover. First place the flywheel holder (J 44214) before taking out the Crankshaft balancer bolt. A suitable jack should support the engine assembly while the right transaxle mount needs to be removed. Insert the Crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) below the body rail after lowering the engine assembly and use the j 41816 to remove the Crankshaft balancer by placing its remover pilot into the Crankshaft end. The technician should first inspect the Crankshaft balancer and then place it onto the Crankshaft nose. Install the Crankshaft balancer with the Crankshaft balancer installer (J 41998-B) before cleaning the bolt threads and applying engine oil to them. The Crankshaft balancer bolt installation requires torque to reach 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) on the first round then requires a 120-degree additional tightening with the torque/angle meter (J 36660-A). Install the right transaxle mount while positioning the engine assembly then take away the engine support jack. We should first remove j 44214 then install the torque converter cover and the Oil Pan to transaxle brace with 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) bolt torque. As the last step install the front fascia extension to the wheelhouse while fitting the right front wheel and lowering the vehicle then apply the Drive Belt.
