The service starts with Drive Belt removal while holding the vehicle in the air and unscrewing the right front wheel. The service requires disconnecting the wheelhouse extension from the wheelhouse followed by removal of the engine Oil Pan to transmission case brace and torque converter cover. The professional should install the j 44214 flywheel holder (J 44214) before removing the Crankshaft balancer bolt. A compatible engine support jack should be used to maintain the engine assembly before the right transaxle mount gets removed. Position the j 41816 Crankshaft balancer remover (J 41816) pilot into the Crankshaft end after lowering the engine assembly to obtain required workspace. The j 41816 Crankshaft balancer remover should be used for removing the Crankshaft balancer before cleaning and inspecting it. According to the installation process, place the Crankshaft balancer on the engine before lifting the engine assembly to reinstall the right transaxle mount. First remove the engine support jack before fitting in the torque converter cover followed by removal of the j 44214. Position the transmission brace Oil Pan then fasten the bolts at 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) and proceed with installing the right front wheel and wheelhouse extension. The last step of the process involves lowering the vehicle before adding the Drive Belt.

To service and repair the Harmonic Balancer you will require: j36660-a (Torque/Angle Meter), j41816 (Harmonic Balancer Remover), j41998-b (Harmonic Balancer Installer), and j44214 (Flywheel Holder). Start with the removal of the Drive Belt, then lift and steady the vehicle. Then, take off the right front wheel and the extension of the wheelhouse of the wheelhouse. You need to remove the brace between engine Oil Pan and the transmission case and Torque Converter cover. Install the j44214 (Flywheel Holder) and pull out the Harmonic Balancer bolt. Lodge the engine assembly on a proper jack and unfasten the nut that holds the Engine Mount to the engine bracket. Lower the engine assembly to facilitate the clearance of j41816 (Harmonic Balancer Remover) below the body rail; install the remover pilot into the end of the Crankshaft, and remove the Harmonic Balancer by using j41816. After ordering, check and clean the Harmonic Balancer, and then install it. As for installing, set the Harmonic Balancer on the engine, lift the engine assembly and fasten the Engine Mount using the nut, which should be tightened to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Take off the engine support jack and the j44214 (Flywheel Holder), followed by the Torque Converter cover installation. Then reinstall the Oil Pan to transmission brace and tighten the bolts to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) then the wheelhouse extension and then right front wheel. Lastly, lower the car and set up the Drive Belt.

Replace the Harmonic Balancer if it is worn out or broken. Now it is ready to be fitted back onto the engine, so clean and inspect it before fitting and performing the rev check. The engine assembly lifts up, and then the nut securing the Engine Mount to the Engine Mount bracket is installed and tightened at 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Take off the engine support jack and flywheel holder (J 44214), then locate the torque converter cover. Replace the Oil Pan to transmission brace tightening it to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.) followed by the wheelhouse extension on the wheelhouse, the right front wheel, and lower the vehicle and install the Drive Belt.

Support the engine assembly with a suitable jack and remove the right transaxle mount.

Remove the brace between the engine oil pan and the transaxle case, and the torque converter cover.

Install the nut securing the right engine mount to the right engine mount bracket, tightening it to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).

Clean the threads and apply engine oil to them.

Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) on the first pass, then tighten an additional 120 degrees for the final pass.
