2002 Cadillac Seville Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the outer tie rod end on 2002 Cadillac Seville?
A: A vehicle should be lifted and supported before removing the tire and wheel during the process of replacing the outer Tie Rod End. Start by taking off the outer Tie Rod End retaining nut followed by loosening the jam nut present on inner Tie Rod End. The outer Tie Rod End extraction from the Steering Knuckle requires the use of a steering linkage and tie rod puller (J24319-B) which should be followed by separating the outer Tie Rod End from its connection with the inner Tie Rod End . During assembly both tie rod ends should be connected together while leaving the jam nut loose before connecting the outer end to the Steering Knuckle. Fasten the outer Tie Rod End retaining nut before tightening it to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). After reinstallation of tire and wheel you should lower the vehicle while making sure the Rack and Pinion Boot stays untwisted and flat during toe adjustment before beginning toe alignment adjustments.
