Cadillac Seville Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the outer tie rod end on Cadillac Seville?
A: Begin outer Tie Rod End replacement by removing both the cotter pin and hex slotted nut found on the outer tie rod assembly. Use the universal steering linkage puller (J 24319-01) to remove the Steering Knuckle's outer tie rod assembly after loosening the inner tie rod assembly jam nut. Move to the next step by separate the outer tie rod assembly from its connection to the inner tie rod assembly. When assembling the outer tie rod assembly to the inner tie rod assembly avoid tightening the jam nut. First place the outer tie rod assembly onto the Steering Knuckle then thread the hex slotted nut onto the outer tie rod stud. Fasten the hex slotted nut to 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) torque before aligning the cotter pin slot through additional 1/6 turn up to 70 nm (52 ft. Lbs.) before installing the cotter pin . Install the cotter pin in the tie rod stud's hole while making sure the Rack and Pinion Boot stays smooth during toe adjustment before you adjust the toe by twisting the inner tie rod per manufacturer recommendations. Screw the jam nut onto the outer tie rod until it reaches 68 nm (50 ft. Lbs.).
